PhD examination passed with distinction !
Roland Moch successfully completed his PhD examination on March 28th, 2025, with the top grade of summa cum laude. This crowns a remarkable scientific achievement in the field of robot-based antenna measurement techniques.
The doctoral committee - consisting of Prof. Dirk Heberling, Prof. Dirk-Uwe Sauer, Prof. Thomas Dallmann, Prof. Renato Negra, and Prof. Gemmeke - examined the thesis with the utmost care and agreed Roland Moch's dissertation entitled "Robot-Based Techniques for Spherical Near-Field Antenna Measurements" sets new standards in the field of high-frequency and antenna measurement technology.
In recent years, Roland Moch has developed a robotic antenna measurement system from scratch. His work opens up possibilities in the precise measurement of mm-wave antennas, which are central components of modern communication and sensor systems. Particularly noteworthy is the implementation of measurements on any surfaces with irregular grids using splines suitable for robots, as well as the development of electrically based calibration procedures for industrial robots in antenna measurement techniques.
The results of his fundamental research form the basis for the practical testing of phaseless measurement methods and innovative, efficient measurement geometries. In this way, Roland Moch not only makes an important contribution to science but also paves the way for future academic excellence in high-frequency technology.
Congratulations, Roland - your work speaks for itself. Or, to put it in the words of I, Robot: "Your logic is undeniable."
