Rollout of Compass2 Dragsail-Cubesat

Research

The Dragsail Cubesat Compass 2 was rolled out for final integration on March 15th 2017. It will now be integrated on the launch vehicle. Students from FH Aachen and IHF of RWTH Aachen developed and built up the spacecraft.

Main task of IHF was the development of the hard and software of the communcations module. There are radios for VHF, UHF and 2.4 GHz S-Band onboard. A sophisticated software allows to reach low bit error rate by using forward error correction on the downlink, even during fly-overs with low elevation.
