Partnership with the Antenna & High Frequency Research Centre (AHFR)

Prof. Dirk Heberling, Dr. Adam Narbudowicz, Prof. Max Ammann

The Institute of High Frequency Techology (IHF) has a long standing and successful collaborative partnership with the Antenna & High Frequency Research Centre (AHFR) at Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) – a leading Irish research centre in the area of antenna design and microwaves. This partnership was developed to a new level in January 2016 when Prof Max Ammann, head of the AHFR, and Prof Dirk Heberling oversaw joint discussions on closer collaboration across a range of project areas, which will benefit both institutions. The IHF offers access to its cutting-edge antenna measurement facilities, while in return Dublin Institute of Technology provides complimentary expertise in antenna design, including UWB systems, circular polarization and pattern reconfiguration.

The collaboration builds on an ongoing joint research project, funded by the Irish Research Council with support from Marie Curie Actions. Dr. Adam Narbudowicz  is currently involved in a two-year secondment at RWTH Aachen University, where he is developing circularly polarized and pattern reconfigurable antennas for future telecommunication systems. Also PhD students from RWTH Aachen University attended courses provided at DIT as part of the Telecommunications Graduate Initiative (TGI).
